KICK-OFF MEETING IN MILAN: WHO IS WHO OF DATEMATS CONSORTIUM

On February 7th the 10 partners of Datemats consortium gathered for the first time to connect names to faces and start this collaborative adventure. The initiative involves academic staff from 4 universities with courses in design and engineering to share and transfer their expertise in four specific areas of Emerging Materials & Technologies – short EMTs.

In addition, experts operating in private and non-profit bodies such as material libraries, knowledge transfer & design centres and industrial development & business centres complete the interdisciplinary project network and connect the consortium with the relevant target group. First results of this cross-sectorial partnership will be available for download on the project’s dedicated website within the first year of project duration. Keep in touch for updates!

A UNIQUE EXPLORATORY AND EXPERIMENTAL PATH: COMPANIES AND ACADEMIA ARE CALLED UPON TO BE PART OF DATEMATS

The Datemats activities are open to faculty, students and enterprises and offer several occasions in which the involved universities will share their best practices for knowledge and technology transfers. If you are interested in one of the four Emerging Materials and Technologies (EMTs) areas investigated by Datemats, then be part of this unique journey participating to one of the proposed steps, or in the whole path. Discover more about how to be involved here and get in direct touch via the dedicated LinkedIn Group.

HOW DOES INDUSTRY GAIN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT EMERGING MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES: MAKE YOUR VOICE COUNT AND PARTICIPATE TO THE SURVEY

A short questionnaire has been set up by Datemats partners, addressed to manufacturers of any industry, being producers of materials, creators of innovative technologies or end-users, aimed to understand the main interests, gaps and needs of companies in terms of technology knowledge transfer related to emerging and innovative materials and technologies. This international survey provides fundamental information to outline the gap between research activities and its industrial implementation and helps to define content and approach of ongoing Datemats investigation.

Answering the questionnaire is the most effective way for companies to get in touch with Datemats project and eventually be part in further activities such as Knowledge Transfer Days or the EMTs Design Challenges. Share your opinion and complete the survey available here.

NEWS FROM MCI’S MATERIALS LIBRARY: 100% PLANT-BASED, RENEWABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE INK

Living Ink Technologies created the world’s first algae-derived ink that it is 100% plant-based, renewable and biodegradable. The process uses the entire algae cell as a pigment and is composed of 90% algae and 10% other plant-based components. The ink is manufactured by first growing the algae in a lab, then harvesting the cells into a paste, and transforming them into ink. The obtained ink can be applied either manually or via screen-printing. It currently comes in various shades of green, brown and the first living carbon black.
